Editorial Guidelines For Submitting Articles
We want to maintain a consistent level of quality of all our articles and these editorial guidelines are designed to help you get accepted for publication on this website.
To qualify for our site, your article should be:
An original article that you wrote yourself. If you work for an author as an employee or contractor and are submitting the article, please submit the article as if it was from the original author, including his or her email address and name.
Informative and share your unique expertise or experience. Include tips, strategies, techniques, case-studies, analysis, opinions and commentary in your articles. It should not be a press release, advertisement, sales letter, promotional copy, or blatant self-promotion.
Relevant to multilingual parenting, multicultural families, or language development.
Written in proper English. Although we cater to a multilingual audience, we unfortunately don't have the capacity to run this website in more than one language. We want to maintain proper English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization and sentence structure throughout the website, including any contributed articles. While we know there is a variation in what is considered "proper English," we ask that you at least be consistent within your article. If English is your second language -- we strongly suggest that you have it proofed by someone who has English as their native tongue before submitting your articles to us. Feel free to contact us if you need help with proofing your article.
Here are som simple punctuation rules: One or two spaces after each period, colon, or semi-colon; Periods should be inside of quotes; When doing "..." -- you should use only 3 dots minimum and maximum; When using dashes, use two in a row, ex: "--"; There is never a space before a period or before a comma.
Title: Your Title Should Be In Upper and Lower Case Letters With The First Letter of Each Major Word Capitalized. It is ok not to capitalize common words such as "a" - "the" - "to" - "for" etc.
Full author name: You must include your first and last name as the author of the article, including any co-authors.
Article body: Should be a minimum of 300 words and preferably no more than 2,000 words. For us, an ideal article size is 400-700 words. You can put links in the article body, but please confine any self-serving links to your resource box.
Resource box: Put a resource box 'About the Author' at the end of the article with a short bio (about 2 sentences). We highly recommend including a link to your website but do not advocate including a mailto: or email link to your personal or work email account. Spammers may find it and abuse it. Better to just include a website URL and anyone who wants to contact you can find your email address on your website.
Article summary: Every article should have a 2-3 sentence short description. The purpose of the article summary is to give an abstract of the benefits that your article delivers.
