I have a question… My wife and I just received the good news that our adoption request finally went through! We will be seeing our daughter for the first time in 2 weeks. We live at the moment in Cochabamba, Bolivia. I am German and my wife is Bolivian. We will be moving to Germany in about 4-5 months. My wife speaks Spanish, English and has started to learn German. I myself was raised from the beginning with Dutch, German and English. Dutch – Mother German – Father English – Surroundings In the past years Spanish became a part of me as well. Now, our adopted daughter is 3 years old, and we were told that she is a bit behind in her speaking skills. We were told this is normal, because in the orphanage she has been raised in, there was no “one on one” care, but she will catch up in no time.My question is, should I start to speak with her in German from the very beginning? At our first encounter? … What to do? My wife obviously will speak with her in Spanish. Thank you very much in advance for your help…

I have a son who stay with one year and nine months and after he born, I spoke to him in my native language portuguese, but now, i only speak to him in English and he knows everything what I say. So I think since she is 3 years old, you must have to speak in the language you want her to learn.
Good Luck!
