Hello we live in Canada so the community language is English, my wife is fluent in Arabic and I am fluent in Polish, we both have families here who are fluent in our naive languages. We have limited knowledge of each other’s languages and communicate with each other in English.  We are concerned that if we use the one parent one language method that our daughter won’t learn enough English for when she goes to daycare and to effectively communicate with teachers and other children. We are also wondering if it is necessary for both of us to speak our native languages to our daughter or would it be sufficient if our families speak to her in Polish or Arabic? What language should she be read to, sang to? Any advice is much appreciated!
