in 2014, there were a group of parents with small children wanted to provide their children the opportunity to be multilingual. I was one of the parents. We came and put our effort together to petitioned for a Mandarin Immersion Charter School in West San Jose. It was a year’s journey before the State of California’s Board of Education approved it in May 2015. This school is open to anyone in California. We hope parents who appreciate the multilingual benefits for their children could leverage what the school has to offer in the area. This was why we petitioned to open a charter school (tuition free) instead of opening a private school

Right now the school is having an open enrollment for Kindergarten and first grade for the 2016-17 academic year.

School Name: Wei Yu International Charter School K-8
