Hi,
I am working on building up a home library of German children’s books for our daughter. There’s TONS out there. Was wondering if anyone could advise some quality titles, ones that have great illustrations, good, fun stories, and/or classic titles that “all German speaking children” would know from their childhood. I grew up with classics in English, like Fox in Sox, hop on Pop, The Little House, Mike the Steam shovel, etc…and I’d love some similar titles for our daughter in German.

Can anyone help?
Thanks so much!
Tamara

Tamara,

Try alphabet-garten.com.  They sell German children’s books and have a nice selection.  The owner is very helpful and would probably be glad to give you recommendations if you email her.

I really like the “Conni” series of books — Conni geht zum Zahnartzt, usw.  They use real-life situations, there’s several of them in the series, and they’re little and light, so they would probably be cheap to ship if you buy off the internet!
