I love your blog. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas. We are a bilingual family in Dallas. We speak to our boys (2 1/2 and 3 months) 100% of the time in Spanish. My oldest is so far speaking 90% Spanish and 10% English. He hears some English from the television and out of the house. I am also a high school Spanish teacher but I have thought about starting a playgroup for little guys. Do your children attend the playgroups? I think that mine would be an asset since the oldest already speaks Spanish and could help interact with the other children. I will keep checking your blog. Keep up the good work.

Your website is great, Maribel! Although I’m not raising my children bilingual Spanish, I am raising them bilingual French/Haitian Creole. I’m sure some of these ideas will “translate”.

Also, when you get a chance, please visit my blog which focuses on immigrant parents raising children in American society.

It must be my lucky day!
I can’t believe I have found 3 fantastic websites/blogs in such a short space of time.
I am Spanish, have lived in London for 10 years and have just moved back to Spain with my American husband and my 3 kids who were all born in the UK.
I have been doing some research online looking for courses for my youngest two (3 and 5), I have been speaking to them in Spanish since they were little but now we are here I want to have them watch dvd’s that are fun as sometimes this is what they lack. The other reason is although they both can speak Spanish in the UK they always answered me in English!
Anyway, I thought I would let anybody else interested in a FANTASTIC course in Spanish for children. It is called Speekee and I ordered it from http://www.spanishshopper.com
You can buy it from the site but if you fill out your name and e-mail address you can get a 10 pounds discount!
My kids love the music and I think the fact it’s not just cartoon charachters but it also uses real children.
